Phuket as your base —
the Andaman Sea as your playground

Phuket is Thailand's yachting hub, not a cruising destination in itself. Boats are berthed at the four main marinas of the island — Ao Po Grand Marina, Yacht Haven, Royal Phuket Marina and Chalong Pier — and from there every anchorage worth sailing on the west coast is within a few hours' sail.

Three signature cruising grounds open up from Phuket: Phang Nga Bay to the north, Krabi and the Hong Islands to the east, and Koh Phi Phi to the south-east. Our brokers know every captain, every anchorage and every weather window — we hand-pick the boat, build the itinerary around your dates, and come back with a fixed all-inclusive quote within 24 hours.

Three signature cruising grounds

From the marinas of Phuket, every anchorage worth sailing in south-west Thailand is within a comfortable day's sail. Day-charter, overnight or full week — the itinerary follows the tide, the swell and your group.

Itinerary 01 · Thailand

Phang Nga Bay · Hidden lagoons

North of Phuket, Phang Nga Bay is the most cinematic stretch of water in Thailand — sheer limestone karsts rising 300 metres out of jade-green water, hidden hongs (sea caves with collapsed roofs that open into hidden lagoons) and the islands made famous by The Man with the Golden Gun.

A private yacht in Phang Nga unlocks Koh Hong, Koh Panak and Naka Yai at sunrise — before the day-tripper longtails arrive. The standard run is a day-charter from Ao Po, but our brokers also build 2-to-3-night overnight charters when the swell is right.

Krabi & The Hong Islands

Krabi province faces Phuket across the bay. The Hong archipelago — Koh Hong, Koh Lao Lading, Koh Poda, Chicken Island — holds some of Thailand's quietest white-sand anchorages, ringed by sheer limestone cliffs that drop straight into jade-green water.

This day-route focuses on the islands north of Krabi: a mix of relaxation, sand-bar walks and one of the most photogenic lagoons in South-East Asia.

Koh Phi Phi · The classic anchorage

Koh Phi Phi needs no introduction — Maya Bay, Pileh Lagoon and the cliffs of Phi Phi Leh are on every Thailand postcard for a reason. The trick is to be on a boat: from the water, you reach the anchorages by sunrise, swim the empty lagoons, and leave before the day-tour speedboats arrive.

The standard day-charter pairs Phi Phi in the morning with Khai Island on the way back for a relaxed afternoon. Ideal also as the southern leg of a 5-to-7-night charter.

  1. Departure Phuket · safety briefing, set sail south-east
  2. Maya Bay · the world-famous limestone cove
  3. Pileh Lagoon · swim in the cliff-ringed inner bay
  4. Monkey Beach & Viking Cave · short stops along Phi Phi Leh
  5. Ton Sai Bay (Phi Phi Don) · lunch on board, optional shore visit
  6. Khai Nok Island · calm shallow water, beach, water toys

Hello team! The week around Phuket and Phang Nga was exactly what we hoped for — the captain knew every anchorage, the boat was spotless and the food was outstanding. We came home already planning the next charter.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before you sail

01 When is the best season for a yacht charter in Thailand?
The Andaman Sea (Phuket, Phang Nga, Krabi, Koh Phi Phi) sails best from November to April — calm seas, light winds, low humidity and very little rain. December to February is peak season; book 4–6 months ahead. May to October is monsoon season on the west coast — most boats cross to the Gulf of Thailand (east coast) or move out of the region entirely.
02 Can I do Phuket → Koh Phi Phi → Krabi in a short charter?
Yes — the classic loop is a 4-to-5-night charter from Phuket: south to Koh Phi Phi (Maya Bay, Pileh Lagoon), north-east to Krabi (Railay, Koh Hong), then back through Phang Nga Bay. A 3-night taster is possible but tight. Seven nights is the comfort zone — it adds a quiet day at anchor and weather flexibility.
03 Monohull, catamaran or motor yacht — which boat is right?
For Thailand, our brokers most often recommend a catamaran — stable, shallow draft (essential for hongs and beach anchorages), and generous deck space for families. Motor yachts make sense for short itineraries or guests who want speed between islands. Monohulls remain a strong option for purists. We match the boat to the group, not the other way round.
04 How much does a Thailand luxury yacht charter cost?
All-inclusive private charters in Thailand typically run 3,200 to 7,500 USD per night for a 4-to-6-cabin catamaran with crew, meals, fuel and watersports. Cabin cruises start around 350 USD per person per night. The final number depends on the boat, the season and the itinerary — our brokers come back with a fixed quote within 24 hours.
05 Can I charter a yacht without a crew in Thailand (bareboat)?
Yes — bareboat charters are available in Thailand for qualified skippers (ICC, RYA Yachtmaster or equivalent). However, given the tides, the longtail traffic and the unmarked rocks around Phi Phi and Phang Nga, even seasoned sailors often opt for a skippered charter. The local captain unlocks the hongs and the quiet anchorages you would never find on a chart.
06 I am not a diver — can I still enjoy the cruise?
Absolutely. Thailand's appeal is mostly above the water: limestone landscapes, sea-kayaking through hidden hongs, paddle-boarding, climbing at Railay, beach lunches, sunset cruises, Thai cooking on board. Snorkeling around Koh Phi Phi and Racha Yai is excellent for non-divers — the visibility is up to 25 metres in season.
